Amplify Music 2020

We’re going to be part of a unique Virtual Conference on April 23 and 24.  Amplify Music (AmplifyMusic.org) is a 25-hour round-the-clock virtual conference, with more than 50 30-minute conversations exploring live music and COVID-19.

How have music communities been helping each other?  What is Resilience in the face of this disruption? How are local ecosystems taking actions in different parts of the world? How might my own community benefit?

Angela and Spencer will be speaking on Friday, 4/24 at 11:30am MT. Add to your calendar below!

About Amplify Music

Amplify Music is a free Virtual Gathering created with the help of more than 30 organizations, with coordination of 4 volunteers to initially bridge the groups they already knew.  It grew into a 25-hour Virtual Gathering starting 1 pm PDT Thursday, April 23, and ending 2 pm PDT Friday, April 24 -- connecting an around-the-globe series of sessions and conversations.  And it is Free -- just sign up on Eventbrite at https://amplifymusic2020.eventbrite.com

Many leaders, artists, and organizations across the globe have proactively responded to the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis, showcasing local efforts and offering solutions to local artists, venues, and creative communities. Amplify Music brings together diverse music leaders and creators online to learn and share from local community response, emergent solutions, and heroic efforts to support local artists, venues, creative communities, and support networks in the surge/challenges of the COVID-19.

  • Unique practices that may transfer to other areas

  • Ways to learn between great ecosystems and communities of communities

  • New combinations of business and community models – bridges beyond streaming

  • “After” – rebuilding trust, conflicts for space/time/funds, challenges of funding in a community rebuilding mode

Dr. Gigi Johnson (Maremel and UCLA Alpert) and Storm Gloor (Univ. of Colorado Denver and City of Glendale, CO) began this journey from their planned SXSW presentation on “Futures of Music Cities” -- and thus this journey began in February when SXSW was canceled.

Who would want to attend?

Anyone in the industries of music, art, and creative enterprises who has been affected by the current unprecedented crisis could benefit from Amplify Music. Participants can anticipate learning about the ongoing response of music and art communities around the world to COVID-19. Of course, individuals and organizations in your community will also be interested in what you and your organization will be adding to the conversation.
